about
Have you ever felt disheartening nostalgia when walking in certain places, smelling certain scents, hearing a forgotten tale? Have you ever felt you've been neglecting parts of your inner self for too long? Have you ever felt the urge to know your story better? These are some of the emotions that drove the creation of Layers: a blend of biguine, one of the traditional music genres from Martinique, and neo-soul. Carried by evanescent choirs and electronic synths, the song deals with identity and memory.
lyrics
Sometimes I feel like I have no community
I just can’t recall my story
How can I help others?
Fight the prejudices we suffer?
Is my need to stand out stronger?
Who is to blame?
We all play different games
Same color different shades, still
We never feel the same pain
Plagued with low self-esteem
Can I play in a team?
And remember the pride deep inside
It's buried in the layers of my mind
It's like I am blind
It's buried in the layers of my mind
It's there deep inside
You know they see us as a single tribe
A bunch of good athletes and sexy girls
I don’t know where to go anymore
I don’t have any crown to put on
They say we'll be fine
If we keep a low profile
If we're not too loud
Who cares if we lag behind
Enough with low self-esteem
We're entitled to dream
It's not as hard as it may seem
I can restore the pride
It's buried in the layers of my mind
It's like I am blind
It's buried in the layers of my mind
It's there deep inside
